BILL'S GOT IT RIGHT

HAVING TROUBLE PRINTING?
Printer friendly version

With all that money burning a hole in our pockets, we ventured into our first July position - an RUT 620/610 bull put spread. I like the chances, despite the fact that we've got another eight weeks to wait. If you feel like you need to do something productive sooner, go mow the lawn.

The market has retraced a bit, but with our cushions, there is no cause for concern. Today it went nowhere in particular. Let's not worry until there's a reason.

Below is an article I found on the internet that I want to share with you. We live in a world where people make bad decisions, get into trouble and look to blame someone else. They do it again and again and again. Where do these values come from? Anyone can make a mistake. But, if you don't learn from it, you're doomed to repeat it. Blaming anyone else but yourself means you haven't learned a thing.

We have to address it when our kids are still young. We have to cut the head off this snake before it squeezes the values out of our kids! It's a monumental task, but we've got to try. The article below, about a speech given by Bill Gates, is a start.

BILL GATES SPEECH

Every child in every school from the age of Kindergarten through every last year of college should hear this one? And not only hear it? They need to be required to memorize it and recite it out loud!

This should be posted in all schools and work places.

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this. Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a high school about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you 'FIND YOURSELF'. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television and video games are NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you can read this - thank a teacher!

What does all this have to do with trading? The same values we should have developed as kids are the ones that will make us better traders. Maybe someday kids who graduate from college will be able to balance a checkbook, write a complete sentence. We can only hope.

ONGOING STRATEGY - THE ZERO-PLUS Strategy
In the past, I outlined a strategy based on an initial investment of $100,000. At that time, $74,000 was spent on zero coupon bonds maturing in about seven years at a value of $100,000. The principal $100,000 investment is guaranteed. We're trading the remaining $26,000 to generate a "risk free" return on the original investment. We are not compounding our profits by dramatically increasing the number of contracts we trade. With the May profits, our new cash total is $62,110 ($60,460 $1,650).

ZERO PLUS POSITION -

Watch for a new Zero Plus position to be announced soon.

DO YOU HAVE PROFIT-ABILITY?

We go over everything imaginable - from the non-directional strategies to the psychology of trading. We cover a lot more than the mechanics. Inquiring minds want to know the whens and the whys -- not just the hows. That way, they're prepared for the best (and the worst) - and know the best way to handle either situation. Contact me and I'll personally call you with all the details.

If you're a SERIOUS options trader, you want to learn the nuances of our advanced non-directional trading strategies and hone your trading skills. Contact me ASAP at mparnos@optioninvestor.com. Send me your phone number. I will personally call you with all the pertinent information. The price is a bargain - ONLY $995.00 -- less than the profit from one Iron Condor trade.
