Call Option

A call option gives the holder of the contract (buyer) the right to purchase the underlying security at a specified price, which is referred to as the strike price. The option must be exercised within a specified period of time, or the contract will expire worthless. The buyer pays a premium for the contract. A contract will, in nearly every single case, represent 100 shares.
