Odd Lot

A purchase or sale of less then the average trading unit. For most securities, an odd lot is any transaction involving less than 100 shares. If it is a very thinly traded issue, an odd lot can be less than 10 shares. Transactions involving odd lots can incur higher commissions, depending on the broker.
