Window Dressing

Window Dressing is the activity seen at the end of a quarter or fiscal year when fund managers attempt to "dress up" their portfolios. The goal of window dressing is to give investors the idea that the fund has been holding successful positions all along. This is can be done by selling losing positions and/or buying strong positions to improve the overall "appearance" of the portfolio.
