I do Jane (09:09:32). At 02:36:41 PM yesterday I also noted the "pop" in the VIX.X and the SPX Jan 1,150 Puts (SPT-MJ) action.

That is very far out the money and I don't see the SPX getting anywhere close to 1,150 by January expiration. However, I've got an alert set at $0.70, which would be a double on that option.

I won't sit and watch that option, but my thought is that if the option sees a double, that might be a level of support being found.

Jane Fox : 12/30/2005 9:09:32 AM

Yesterday I mentioned at around 2:25 that the VIX took a big jump upwards. The steep decline ES took didn't get started until 3:10. Do you think there was a correlation? Link

Dateline WSJ Google is being sued by a New York-based firm over the patents it is alleged to use for Voice over Internet protocol technology in Google Talk, according to a report in the New York Post. Rates Technology is seeking $5 billion in damages, the report said.

Jane Fox : 12/30/2005 9:02:51 AM

Dateline WSJ Intel Corp. is set to announce a major overhaul of its corporate and product branding, a move designed to symbolize the chip maker's transformation into a supplier for products beyond personal computers.

The changes include a new version of the company's blue logo -- without the lowered "e" that has long been a part of Intel's branding -- along with a new tagline, "Leap ahead," emulating such campaigns as "Think different" from Apple Computer Inc.

Intel no longer will use the well-known "Intel Inside" logo, but it is keeping the marketing program of that name that provides incentives to companies for using its products. The Santa Clara, Calif., company also is reducing its reliance on the Pentium brand for microprocessors, which have been associated mainly with higher PC performance at a time when Intel is shifting to a balance of computing speed and power consumption.

Marc Eckelberry : 12/30/2005 9:06:50 AM

QQQQ has a gap to close all the way near 39.35 and even though there is massive put support at 40, we could very well see that occurence in the next few days, but I get the feeling we will also see a strong rally early January, probably after Greenspan on 1/3

With the weather being warmer then normal energy prices have declined, but we still have 3 months of winter ahead and a cold snap could easily change the scenario.
