DAILY / WEEKLY Pivot Matrix recap with today's trade at this Link

The Dollar Index (dx00y) went coast-to-coast. Actually, the YELLOW levels in the DAILY matrix were levels traded last night and into this today's 09:05-03:00 session. The BLUE levels in the DAILY matrix were traded from 09:05-03:00.

The 10-year YIELD ($TNX.X), now there was some action and nearly a mirror image of the dollar. Lower early to then ramp higher.

TRIN "gapped" below DAILY Pivot and DAILY S1. 09:50 AM was the high at 0.95. "Bull Gas" all day.

VIX was relatively calm and traded within a 12.94-12.66 measure. Per my "clutch" analogy, one could say market participants just couldn't find a gear for the "bull gas." DAILY Piv/WEEKLY R1.

No? Decent S1-R1 ranges for the equity indices in my matrix, but indices in the matrix didn't want to move much either side of DAILY Pivots.

There were some moments where I thought buyers hung in there, when they could have gone away. OEX and QQQQ both held intra-day support tests of their respective WEEKLY S1.

The ER was today's "trade of the day." Recaptured WEEKLY S2 at the open and made it to WEEKLY S1 (see some of my intra-day YM/ER posts).

VIX to new daily lows confirms ES's new daily high. The TRIN at 0.61 also suggests bullishness.

AD line is +277 and AD volume is above 0 and rising. The bulls have the upper hand but I'm not giving the reins to them yet.

Gold continues to be strong today but this market is ripe for a retracement. THis chart remains bullish as long as it stays above 580 IMHO. Link

Dateline WSJAs Merck & Co. was hit with big punitive damages in a Vioxx case yesterday, plaintiffs' attorneys are setting their sights on one of the company's other blockbusters: osteoporosis drug Fosamax.

The drug maker is facing 10,000 lawsuits related to its painkiller Vioxx, which it pulled from the market in 2004 after a study showed that using the drug for 18 months or longer increased the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Now, adding to Merck's woes are reports that link long-term use of Fosamax to a rare disease in which a patient's jawbone rots and dies, called osteonecrosis of the jaw, or ONJ.

Echoing claims made in Vioxx lawsuits, Pensacola, Fla.-based law firm Levin Papantonio Thomas Mitchell Echsner & Proctor earlier this week filed a suit against Merck in U.S. District Court in Fort Myers seeking class-action status. The suit claims that Merck sold and heavily marketed Fosamax, the company's second-best-selling product, as safe despite knowing about its dangerous side effect. Another law firm, Knoxville, Tenn.-based Threadgill, filed a similar suit against Merck last fall.
