Kerzner Intl - KZL - close: 60.85 chg: +1.10 stop: 57.99

KZL turned in a strong 1.8 percent bounce today but don't forget we feel that to be on the safe side we're going to exit on Tuesday afternoon at the closing bell. That way we can avoid holding over KZL's earnings report, which has yet to be nailed down.

Short Play Updates

Adobe Systems - ADBE - close: 29.46 change: -0.18 stop: 30.41

Hmmm...we would like to say "so far so good". ADBE is moving in the right direction. Yet some after hours news may throw a wrench in our plans. We were suggesting that readers use a trigger at $28.99 to open shorts in this stock and target the July lows near $26.00. However, after the bell today, ADBE reaffirmed its earnings guidance. The company expects earnings in the 25-27 cent range. Wall Street is looking for 27 cents. The reaction in after hours trading has ADBE down more than 10 percent. That would be BAD news to have ADBE open near $26.50 only to have it bounce back on us! We would NOT OPEN new shorts tomorrow if ADBE gaps down under $28.50. If ADBE does gap down below $28.50 we will SIT OUT and watch for the oversold bounce/failed rally as a potential entry point. If ADBE does open above $28.50 and then trades below $29.00 then we WOULD open plays.

A.S.V.Inc - ASVI - close: 48.86 chg: +0.91 stop: 49.01

Well this is one play that did not cooperate in the least. The stock has continued to rally from its Thursday lows. Shares came within one-cent of our stop loss today. We are NOT suggesting new positions here and expect to be stopped out tomorrow if the markets are at all positive.

ATI Tech. - ATYT - close: 12.76 change: +0.18 stop: 13.41

We are a bit surprised by ATYT's strength today. The SOX semiconductor closed in the red but ATYT managed a small bounce. We remain bearish and continue to target the $11.50-11.20 range.

Biogen Idec - BIIB - close: 40.42 chg: +1.13 stop: 40.01

Another strong day for biotech stocks inspired BIIB to breakout through round-number resistance at the top of its trading range near $40.00. This puts a big damper on our bearish strategy. If BIIB continues to trade much higher we'll just exit this play unopened. Currently we're sticking by our plan to suggest shorts if BIIB trades under the $38.00 level (entry 37.99).

Anheuser Busch - BUD - cls: 44.02 chg: -0.33 stop: 46.25

BUD continues to sink and looks increasingly vulnerable. If you missed the entry point we would still consider new shorts here. Remember that BUD doesn't move very quickly and we're using a 10-to-12 week time frame. Our target is the $40.25-40.00 range.

Intl Game Tech. - IGT - cls: 27.25 chg: -0.11 stop: 29.01

No change from our weekend update. IGT continues to look weak. We would still consider new short positions here. Our target is the $24.50-24.00 range.

Juniper Networks - JNPR - cls: 24.16 chg: +0.17 stop: 25.61

JNPR spent a third day inside a tight trading range between $24.30 and $23.90. We remain bearish but would only consider new short positions on a drop below the $23.90 mark. Our target is the $21.50-21.00 range.

Royal Caribbean - RCL - cls: 45.08 chg: -0.37 stop: 48.01

Sina.com - SINA - close: 27.90 change: +0.09 stop: 28.51

It looks like traders are bound and determined to not place any bets in SINA until after its earnings report due this Wednesday. Shares have been stuck in a trading range between $26.80 and $28.50 for the past four weeks. If you're an options trader you may want to consider a straddle or some sort of neutral strategy to catch any sort of over reaction to SINA's earnings report as a breakout up or down is a very strong possibility. We are planning to exit on Tuesday at the close to avoid holding over SINA's report.

Triad Hosp. - TRI - close: 50.12 chg: +0.45 stop: 52.01

It is time to go to yellow alert! Traders should double-check their stop loss placement to make sure they are comfortable with how much risk they are taking. TRI out performed the markets today with a 0.9 percent rally to break out back above the $50.00 mark. After breaking past this psychological barrier the stock spent the rest of the trading session in a tight 25-cent range. We would not suggest new positions until TRI traded back under $49.50.
