Long Play Updates

Amer.Phys.Cap. - ACAP - close: 48.86 change: -0.15 stop: 46.75

We are still in a wait-and-see mode with ACAP. Our plan is to catch a breakout over the $50.00 level. We're suggesting a trigger at $50.61 to go long. If triggered we'll target a rally into the $54.85-55.00 range.

Picked on February xx at $xx.xx <-- see TRIGGER

Claires Store - CLE - close: 31.68 change: -0.05 stop: 29.99

Retail stocks turned in a lackluster session. Wal-Mart (WMT) reported earnings today and that sparked some profit taking in the company's stock price, which in turn helped the RLX retail index produce a failed rally at resistance. If the RLX sector index continues lower tomorrow then we'd expect CLE to test the $31.00 level. A bounce from $31 could be used as a new entry point for long positions. Our target is the $33.90-34.00 range. The P&F chart points to a $42 target.

Picked on February 14 at $32.00

Curtiss Wright - CW - close: 62.83 chg: +1.73 stop: 59.90

After a three-day rebound last week shares of CW did some consolidating today. If the market pulls back tomorrow watch for a dip toward the $61.00-60.50 region. Our target is the $63.95-64.00 range.

Picked on February 16 at $ 60.35

LM Ericsson - ERICY - close: 34.63 chg: -0.08 stop: 33.93

ERICY continues to consolidate and now shares are right back where we started from near short-term support/resistance at the $34.50 region. Volume has been very light on the pull back and that doesn't suggest a lot of conviction behind the selling. Yet we have to turn cautious on the stock. A dip and bounce from the $34.00 level, now bolstered by the simple 200-dma, could be used as a new bullish entry point. Our target is the $36.75-37.00 range.

Picked on February 14 at $34.61

Foster Wheeler - FWLT - close: 48.85 chg: -0.05 stop: 45.95*new*

Uh-oh! We don't like the looks of the intraday trading action in FWLT today. It looks like shares have produced a new short-term top. We are not suggesting new plays and conservative traders may want to consider exiting early or raising their stops significantly. We are going to adjust our stop loss to $45.95.

Helen of Troy - HELE - close: 19.66 chg: -0.30 stop: 19.45

HELE suffered some minor profit taking today but if it continues much longer the stock will quickly hit our stop loss at $19.45. We are not suggesting new positions.

Novell Inc. - NOVL - close: 9.21 change: -0.15 stop: 8.99

Semiconductor stocks lead the technology sector lower after an analyst downgrade for the group. NOVL lost 1.6% and looks poised to test support at its simple 50-dma near 9.06. We would wait for a bounce from support before considering new positions. If the SOX breaks down under its own 50-dma near 517 we would not open new bullish positions in NOVL.

Unisys - UIS - close: 6.91 change: +0.04 stop: 6.25

UIS displayed some relative strength today. We don't see any change from our weekend update on the stock. If the stock sees any consolidation consider buying a dip into the $6.80-6.70 region. Our short-term target is a move into the $7.40-7.50 range.

Short Play Updates

Adobe Sys. - ADBE - close: 38.10 change: +0.30 stop: 39.01

Hmmm... our new short play in ADBE is not off to the greatest start. The stock displayed relative strength with a 0.8% gain versus a decline in the GSO software index and most of the technology sectors. A failed rally near $38.70 or a new decline under $37.00 could be used as a new entry point for shorts. Our target is the $35.25-35.00 range.

Picked on February 19 at $37.80

Bed Bath & Beyond - BBBY - cls: 35.50 chg: -0.05 stop: 37.01

BBBY is inching closer to a new low and our trigger. We want to catch the next leg lower so we're suggesting a trigger to short thes tock at $34.80. If triggered we'll target a decline into the $30.50-30.00 range. More aggressive traders may want to consider new shorts right here under $36.00.

Ebay Inc. - EBAY - close: 40.80 change: -0.51 stop: 42.01

Internet stocks didn't do so great today but then most of the technology sectors were trading lower led by the semiconductors. Shares of EBAY lost 1.2% and seemed to confirm Friday's failed rally at the $42.00 level. Aggressive traders may want to consider shorts right here. We would wait for a decline under $40.00, which would also be under the 200-dma.

Picked on February 09 at $39.53

Average Daily Volume: 13.9 million

Hilton Hotels - HLT - close: 24.21 change: -0.09 stop: 25.01

HLT is slipping lower and today's minor loss is somewhat significant because HLT closed under its simple 50-dma albeit by the smallest of margins. We are suggesting a trigger to short the stock at $23.98 since the $24.00 level was support back in early January. Our target is a decline into the $22.25-22.00 range.

Picked on February xx at $xx.xx <-- see TRIGGER

Juniper Networks - JNPR - close: 17.45 chg: -0.52 stop: 19.25

JNPR continues to show relative weakness and closed under its gap from January 30th. Today's 2.89% loss was fueled by heavy volume more than double its daily average. If JNPR produces an oversold bounce watch for a failed rally under $18.00 or $18.50 as a new entry point to consider shorts. Our target is the $15.25-15.00 range.

Closed Long Plays

CEC Entertainment - CEC - cls: 37.65 chg: -0.31 stop: 36.99

Our plan was to exit before the closing bell today to avoid holding over the company's earnings report. Thank goodness we did. CEC reported and missed Wall Street's estimates by 7 cents and if that wasn't bad enough CEC issued an earnings warning for the next quarter.

Picked on February 1 at $37.61

TASER Intl. - TASR - close: 10.40 change: +0.22 close: 9.85

Time has run out for our bullish play on TASR. The company is due to report earnings tomorrow morning and our plan called for us to exit this afternoon near the closing bell. Wall Street expects TASR to report profits of 0.01 cent per share tomorrow. If they beat then odds of a short squeeze are pretty strong.
