Aeropostale - ARO - close: 32.66 chg: +0.48 stop: 28.99

Buckle your seat belt and double-check your stop loss. ARO posted its sixth gain in a row today and on decent volume too. After the closing bell the company reported that same-store sales rose a healthy 8% in April. Unfortunately, ARO countered this good news with an earnings warning. Management said the quarter would come in near the low-end of its previous guidance. Shares of ARO were trading down around $30.00 in after hours. Traders might want to tighten their stop loss. We're going to leave ours at $28.99 for now in case this is a knee-jerk reaction that may end up reversing. We are not suggesting new positions at this time.

Picked on May 01 at $31.65

Liberty Global - LBTYA - close: 20.35 chg: -0.13 stop: 20.14

We have run out of patience and almost run out of time with LBTYA. It seems like traders are not willing to push the stock one way or the other until the company's next earnings report on Monday, May 8th. Our plan was to exit on Friday afternoon but now we're suggesting that traders exit tomorrow on any strength. We are going to aim for an exit tomorrow at $20.85. If we don't hit this new target we'll exit at the closing bell.

Picked on April 02 at $20.47

Earnings Date 05/08/06 (unconfirmed)
Average Daily Volume: 1.7 million

Phillips Van-Heusen - PVH - cls: 40.35 chg: -0.02 stop: 37.49*new*

We are a little surprised that PVH is holding up so well. Considering the trading action over the last few sessions it looked like PVH was due to give back some gains. We remain cautious and we're not suggesting new long positions at this time. We are going to raise our stop loss to $37.49. Our target is the $42.00-42.50 range. Unfortunately, we didn't hear anything come out of PVH's presentation today at the Lehman Brothers retail seminar.

Short Play Updates

Blyth Inc. - BTH - close: 20.01 chg: -0.27 stop: 20.55

On your mark! Get set! Shares of BTH almost hit our trigger today. The stock gapped lower this morning to open at $20.03 and the stock dipped to $19.95 before spending the session churning sideways in a tight range near the $20.00 level. Volume was very strong on today's decline. We remain bearish and continue to suggest a trigger to short the stock at $19.79, which is under the March low. If triggered we will target a decline into the $18.25-18.00 range since the $18.00 level has been support in the past.

Picked on April xx at $xx.xx <-- see TRIGGER

KLA-Tencor - KLAC - close: 49.52 chg: +1.66 stop: 50.01

Shorts seem to have been spooked in KLAC today too. The SOX added 1.2% today, making the semiconductors the third best performing sector in Wednesday's trading. Shares of KLAC did even better with a 3.4% bounce. The stock is nearing resistance at the $50.00 level, which is bolstered by its simple 200-dma.

Picked on April 30 at $48.16
Change since picked: + 1.36
Earnings Date 04/27/06 (confirmed)
Average Daily Volume: 4.2 million

Red Robin - RRGB - close: 45.30 chg: +0.33 stop: 46.51

The overall pattern for RRGB remains bearish but we'd wait for a decline under $44.75 or the $44.50 level before considering new short positions. Our target is the $40.25-40.00 range. More aggressive traders may want to aim lower. We'll plan to exit ahead of the mid-May earnings report.

Picked on April 26 at $43.99

SCS Transportation - SCST - cls: 26.06 chg: +0.45 stop: 28.55

A 3% dip in oil prices fueled a rebound in some of the trucking stocks. SCST added 1.75% to close back above the $26.00 level. We are not suggesting new positions at this time. Our target is the $25.00-24.00 range.

Picked on April 23 at $27.45

Earnings Date 04/20/06 (confirmed)
Average Daily Volume: 166 thousand

Tiffany & Co. - TIF - close: 34.69 chg: +0.63 stop: 36.25

A better than expected earnings report from online jewelry-retailer Blue Nile (NILE) helped produce an oversold bounce in shares of TIF. Watch for the bounce in TIF to encounter some resistance near the descending 10-dma or 21-dma. Our target is the $32.25-31.75 range.

Picked on April 25 at $35.11

Closed Short Plays

Digital River - DRIV - close: 45.64 chg: +0.18 stop: 46.11

We have been stopped out of our aggressive short play in DRIV. However, we're not convinced that the stock won't head lower anyway. We would watch for a new decline in the $43.50-43.25 region as a potential entry point for bearish positions.

Picked on April 30 at $43.54
Change since picked: + 2.10
Earnings Date 04/27/06 (confirmed)
Average Daily Volume: 1.1 million

Entercom - ETM - close: 27.43 chg: +1.12 stop: 27.55

We have been stopped out of ETM At $27.55. If you read the news it says that radio stocks surged higher after Clear Channel's (CCU) positive earnings report. We looked at CCU's report and they beat estimates by a penny, which doesn't seem so awe-inspiring. That means investors may be focused on CCU's revenues, which did see significant improvement from a year ago. Whatever the case ETM shorts got spooked and ran for cover.

Picked on April 18 at $26.80 *gap down*
