Current Portfolio:

BULLISH Play Updates

Arch Coal Inc. - ACI - close: 32.15 change: -1.80

Stop Loss: 31.95
Target(s): 39.50, 42.50
Current Gain/Loss: - 7.5%
Time Frame: 8 to 10 weeks
New Positions: see below

Comments:
03/10 update: Anything related to energy, including coal, was hammered lower on Thursday. Shares of ACI plunged -5.3% and fell toward support near $32.00. If the major market indices see any further weakness on Friday I would expect ACI to hit our stop loss at $31.95. I am not suggesting new positions at this time. Let's see where the market's close tomorrow.

Current Position: Long ACI stock @ 34.76

- or -

Long the April $35 calls (ACI1116D35) Entry @ $1.75

03/03 ACI gapped open at $34.76 (trigger was $34.75)

Entry on March 3 at $34.76
Earnings Date 04/19/11 (unconfirmed)
Average Daily Volume: 3.4 million
Listed on March 2nd, 2010

ACI Worldwide Inc. - ACIW - close: 30.41 change: -1.04

Stop Loss: 27.80
Target(s): 33.00, 34.75
Current Gain/Loss: + 2.6%
Time Frame: 6 to 8 weeks
New Positions: see below

Comments:
03/10 update: Just as we expected, shares of ACIW retested the $30 level. This pull back to support is technically a new entry point but given the geopolitical risks tomorrow readers may want to wait and see how stocks perform (do the major averages continue to fall) before initiating new positions. Our bullish targets are $33.00 and $34.75.

FYI: ACIW does have options but the spreads are very wide, which puts us at a significant disadvantage.

SMALL bullish positions

Current Position: Long ACIW stock @ $29.63

Entry on February 25 at $29.63
Earnings Date 04/28/11 (unconfirmed)
Average Daily Volume: 122 thousand

Stop Loss: 50.90
Target(s): 54.90, 57.50
Current Gain/Loss: + 0.2%
Time Frame: 6 to 8 weeks
New Positions: see below

Comments:
03/10 update: BAX is pulling back toward recent support near $52. If the major averages continue to fall tomorrow I would expect BAX to hit our new stop loss at $50.90. The plan was to keep our position size small to limit our risk.

FYI: The Point & Figure chart for BAX is bullish with a $73 target.

(small positions only)

Current Position: Long BAX stock @ 52.00

- or -

Long the May $55 call (BAX1121E55) Entry @ $1.05

Stop Loss: 7.19
Target(s): 7.80, 8.90
Current Gain/Loss: + 3.0%
Time Frame: 6 to 8 weeks
New Positions: see below

Comments:
03/10 update: BSX encountered some profit taking today (-4.3%) after yesterday's rally and test of the $8.00 level. More conservative traders may want to raise their stops. I am not suggesting new positions at this time. BSX might see a correction toward its 10-dma. The plan is to keep our position size small to limit our risk.

- (Small Positions to Limit our Risk)

Current Position: Long BSX stock @ 7.22

- or -

Long the April $7.00 calls (BSX1116D7) Entry @ $0.44

Stop Loss: 4.47
Target(s): 4.95, 5.40
Current Gain/Loss: - 2.7%
Time Frame: 8 to 10 weeks
New Positions: Yes, see below

Comments:
03/10 update: Financials were swept up in the market's sell-off and Citigroup gave up -2.3%. Shares are nearing short-term support near $4.50. This looks like another entry point to launch positions. However, given the day of rage protests in Saudi tomorrow readers may want to wait and see how the market performs before initiating new trades.

Small Bullish Positions

Current Position: Long Citigroup stock @ $4.67

- or -

Long the May $4.50 calls (C1121E4.5) Entry @ $0.32

Stop Loss: 47.95
Target(s): 54.75
Current Gain/Loss: unopened
Time Frame: 6 to 8 weeks
New Positions: Yes, see trigger

Comments:
03/10 update: CCMP has broken down under short-term support near $48.00. If we don't see a recovery tomorrow I will drop CCMP as a bullish candidate. We have a trigger to launch positions at $50.25.

FYI: The most recent data listed short interest at 13% of CCMP's small 22.75 million share float. That raises the chances for a short squeeze.

Trigger @ 50.25

Suggested Position: Buy CCMP stock @ $50.25

- or -

Stop Loss: 28.99
Target(s): 34.85, 38.00
Current Gain/Loss: + 0.4%
Time Frame: 6 to 8 weeks
New Positions: see below

Comments:
03/10 update: Once again traders bought the dip as GIL neared the $30 level. I suspect the stock will test the $30 region again soon. More conservative traders might want to raise their stops toward the $29.50 or $29.90 levels to reduce their risks. Currently our stop is at $28.99.

Current Position: long GIL stock @ 30.35

- or -

Long the April $30 call (GIL1116D30) Entry @ $1.60

03/08 Triggered $ 30.35

Stop Loss: 67.75
Target(s): 74.75, 79.00
Current Gain/Loss: Unopened
Time Frame: 6 to 9 weeks
New Positions: Yes, see trigger

Comments:
03/10 update: Hmm... HSIC is on the verge of breaking down below its trend of higher lows. If we don't see a recovery soon I will drop HSIC as a bullish candidate. Currently, I am suggesting we use a trigger to buy HSIC at $70.25. If triggered our first target is $74.75. Our second, longer-term target is $79.00. FYI: HSIC does have options but the spreads are too wide.

Trigger @ 70.25

Suggested Position: Buy HSIC stock @ $70.25

Jos. A Bank Clothiers Inc. - JOSB - close: 47.22 change: +1.52

Stop Loss: 44.75
Target(s): 49.85, 52.25
Current Gain/Loss: + 2.6%
Time Frame: 4 to 6 weeks
New Positions: see below

Comments:
03/10 update: Hmm... JOSB was showing impressive relative strength on Thursday with a +3.3% gain. I'm sure this was some sort of news driven event but I couldn't find any headlines behind the move. JOSB is now testing resistance near $48.00. I would not open new positions at current levels. Wait for a breakout above $48.00.

FYI: The most recent data listed short interest at almost 25% of JOSB's 27.3 million-share float. There is definitely room for some short covering here. Plus, the Point & Figure chart for JOSB is bullish with a $62 target.

- Small Bullish Positions -

Stop Loss: 28.75
Target(s): 29.90, 31.50
Current Gain/Loss: + 4.7%
Time Frame: 6 to 8 weeks
New Positions: see below

Comments:
03/10 update: LNCR was showing some volatility this morning. The stock spiked down toward the $29.00 level but quickly recovered. More conservative traders may want to lock in gains now. I am not suggesting new positions at this time.

FYI: The Point & Figure chart for LNCR is bullish with a $40 target. Plus, investors will be interested to note that LNCR has relatively high short interest. The most recent data listed short interest at 11.5% of the 86-million share float. With the recent breakout this stock could see a short squeeze.

- Small Bullish Positions -

Current Position: Long LNCR stock @ 28.37

Comments:
03/10 update: There is nothing new to report on for SIG. Shares bounced around the $44-43 zone. If the major market indices accelerate lower tomorrow I would expect SIG to follow them lower and stop us out. I am not suggesting new bullish positions at this time.
