Editors Note:

The Dow and S&P closed sharply negative but the Russell 2000 actually gained. This is small cap earnings week and while the gain was small it was still a gain. This is somewhat bullish but we know if the big caps really tank the small caps will follow. The gain today showed that sentiment has not turned completely bearish.

The index is struggling right at resistance at 1,550 and there was a dead stop at 1,551 today. It traded over 1,550 twice late in the day and for less than 5 min.

S&P futures are down -10 tonight so Friday is not looking good.
